The door

So most people are probably doing a double take when looking at this picture. Why in the world would you take a picture of a door on a running blog. Well...this blog is meant to inspire...and especially inspire me. This door represents all of the obstacles that are placed in front of me. Most of which are easy to over come, but that I allow to get the better of me. All it takes is for me to turn the door handle and walk outside to go for my run. But so many times I have let the door stand in my way.

All it takes to do ANYTHING that you want is to just recognize the obstacle and find the easiest way to get around it, over it, or through it. Realize that the obstacle is just a door. Open it and walk through it. Then you will realize why what you are doing is so important.

So this is my treadmill. Yup! All mine. Okay so it doesn't have my name on it but it SHOULD. I have run more miles on this treadmill than I care to mention. Well over 100. My first 5K ever...this treadmill. My first 5 mile run...this treadmill. My first 10 mile run...you got it...this treadmill. When I did my 20 mile run, 15 of them were on this one. I needed a change in scenery for the last file miles so I changed...but this treadmill and I are thick as thieves!! In fact this treadmill is giving me my sanity back while I recover from surgery. While it isn't set to its normal 7.0 setting, the 2.0 setting is working for the moment. So you might ask WHY I would run this much on a treadmill. Well in this town we have 2 seasons...F'ing hot and F'ing cold. It just so happens that I don't care so much about running in those two conditions. So I train A LOT on here. There are many benefits to treadmill training...but the biggest one is the mental training. If you can run 20 miles on a treadmill...you can run a marathon with very few problems!

The Beginning...

So this is the official blog of my journey on my way to running the unofficial "Dopey" run at Walt Disney World in Jan 2011. To clarify...the Dopey run is running the 5K on Friday, the half marathon on Saturday, and the full marathon on Sunday. While there is an official "Goofy" run that does not include the 5K, I did not feel that was enough of a challenge for me!

So as a way to be accountable to my training, I am create at Project 365 picture diary of my running.

Ultimately my goal is to complete a half marathon or full marathon in all 50 states!

So here is Picture 1! In June of last year I was chosen to be the very first member of the month for the Anytime Fitness that I go to. I have been struggling a lot in the last couple of months with motivation and eating plans. This is a reminder of how far I've come and how much more I want to accomplish. Today begins the day that I become proud of myself again!
